General Queries

What is an Escape Room?

Participants are locked in a room with a series of logic and strategy puzzles. To escape the room, they will need to solve the puzzles within 60 minutes.

Escape Games NYC has four amazing escape rooms on offer. Head over to our escape rooms page to check them out.

Do I need to be physically fit?

Not at all. Our puzzles are designed to test strategy, creativity and logic. They require mental force but not physical force.

Do you recommend your escape rooms for young children?

Our games are designed for adult brains. Children under 14 are welcome to play but often find our escape rooms too difficult.

For groups with younger players we would recommend The Experiment.

Do you recommend your escape rooms for older children / teenagers?

Yes, our games are great for children aged 14 and older. Please note that players under 17 will need to be accompanied by an adult.

For players aged 14-17 we recommend The Experiment or Outer Space.

Are your rooms suitable for corporate team-building?

Yes, we have run team-building events for a wide variety of corporate clients. Please visit our team-building page for more information, or email us at teambuilding@escapegamesnyc.com.

Can you accommodate large groups?

Yes. We have both on-site and portable options available for large groups.

Our on-site escape rooms accommodate a maximum of 6-7 players. We can accommodate groups up to 26 players by running multiple rooms at the same time. This will need to be organized with us directly. Please call 917-259-1027 or email us booking@escapegamesnyc.com.

Larger groups should consider a portable escape game. This game is delivered to a location of your choosing and can accommodate from 20 to 200 players. For more information, please visit our portable escape game page.

Are your escape rooms scary?

Our rooms are not designed to be frightening – our aim is to test your logic. If you do feel uncomfortable you can use your room’s panic button to end the game.

We would recommend that faint hearted guests skip our John Doe room and try The Experiment or Outer Space.

Are your escape rooms suitable for claustrophobic guests?

Our escape rooms are a comfortable size. Players should have adequate personal space even when the room is at maximum capacity. If you do feel claustrophobic you can leave the room at any time using the panic button.

We would recommend Detective Story or The Experiment for players that like a little extra room to move.

Is your location wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately, our building is not wheelchair accessible.

Please arrive 10 minutes before your booked time for pre-game orientation.

What if I am late for my booking?

If your team arrives late you will still be able to play. Unfortunately, we will not be able to give you a full 60 minutes to escape. This is because we need time to get the room ready for the next booking.

What happens when I arrive at Escape Games NYC?

Your Game Master will provide you with a brief explanation of the game before showing you to your escape room.

The game starts when the Game Master leaves the room and closes the “escape door”. You will see a countdown timer indicating your remaining game time.

Am I really locked in?

Yes, but no need to worry. Your Game Master will show you your room’s panic button before locking you in. If you feel claustrophobic, need to go to the restroom, or have to take an important call then you can use the button to open the door.

How long does an escape room take?

You should prepare to stay for about 75 minutes: 10 minutes pre-game orientation, 60 minutes game play and 5 minutes for post-game photos.

What if a puzzle is too hard for me?

Your Game Master will be standing by to assist. You can contact them up to 3 times each game to request a hint.

What if I am unable to escape in the time given?

You are locked in forever. Just kidding. Your Game Master will let you out and explain any unsolved puzzles to you.

Will it still be fun if we don’t escape?

Yes. In fact, we have several great reviews from people who did not manage to escape. Check them out here.

What happens after we escape the room?

Your game master will give you the option to take some photos. Please allow 5-10 minutes for this at the end of your booking time.
